ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF MUSIC

MUSIC EDUCATION

Music is a vital and vibrant part of life at Leppington Anglican College.

Active involvement in music learning and music making is proven to improve visual and verbal skills, cognitive development, concentration, and memory. It fosters self-discipline and encourages children to collaborate and work as a team especially when they are involved in music ensembles. There is a growing body of research showing that students perform better academically when quality Music education is a part of their curriculum.

Music is also a wonderful gift from God, and we encourage every child to learn an instrument, discover and develop their talents and build the confidence to showcase their gifts by performing for others.

Students from Pre-K onward receive specialist music lessons and in Stage 2 have the opportunity to learn a concert band instrument through our band program. We have an outstanding group of tutors who support our students in learning their instruments and they also offer individual instrumental tuition for those students wishing to pursue music and performance further.

The College offers a range of ensembles for group music making and all children are encouraged to take part in on or more performance groups.

LET'S GET ACTIVE

SPORT

Sport is an integral part of College life and plays an important role in a healthy and holistic education. We focus on participation for all, and opportunity to excel.

Our sporting programs have all been designed to be fun and engaging, to ensure our students develop a personal love of sport and exercise, and to equip them with the skills and desire to lead an active and healthy childhood, which continues throughout their entire life.

Weekly sport is held across all Stages in the College, making use of our outdoor courts and local sporting fields. Students may also take part in programs such as Bounce gymnastics and swimming programs in Stage 1.

Students across all year groups participate in a variety of sports throughout the year, with our swimming, athletics and cross-country carnivals being a wonderful opportunity for all students to participate and for many to excel and progress further through our competitive pathways.

Leppington Anglican College is a member of the Christian School Sporting Association (CSSA), which allows students opportunities to compete against other NSW Christian schools. We are also a member of the Combined Independent Schools Sports Association (CIS) allowing students who excel in various sports the pathway necessary to compete at a State and National level.

Through these associations, Leppington Anglican College can enter teams and competitors in swimming, athletics, cross country, soccer, netball, basketball, cricket, rugby league, Oz Tag, tennis, gymnastics and golf.
